Welcome back!
It has been some time since I last managed a blog post, and there have been some pretty big changes, so it’s about time I got you all caught up. There is good news and bad news:
The Bad
My Nikkor AF-S 300mm f/2.8G IF-ED VR was stolen from my flat in Edinburgh in mid-April. As you can imagine, that was quite a blow. Insurance is being sorted out, but in the mean time my readers and friends can help! Keep your eye out for large lenses in charity/pawn shops. The serial number of the lens is 305987. It’s on the golden plate on the lens. If you come across this lens, please contact me! My hopes are not high, but with your help it is possible that it could be recovered.
The Good
Firstly:
nuff said.
Yes, I purchased a D800. I placed my order the day after the camera came out, and got a call from Jessops a week or two into April saying that the camera was in the warehouse and ready to ship. At the end of April, it arrived. I have had exams, and therefore not much time to devote to playing with it yet. But expect lots of photos and eventually a review of how this camera performs.
Secondly
I’m going back to Madagascar again! This time for only two months, from early June to early August this year. I will be leading the reptile research for Operation Wallacea in an area near where I worked last year. The D800 is going to get a thorough testing out there, and that will, to a large extent, be informing my review of it when I get back.
Thirdly
You may (or may not) have noticed that we have moved domains! I finally decided that the website that I had dreamt about was never going to happen while I am a full time student, so for the time being, I have mapped this blog to www.markscherz.com! I am looking at more updates regarding the theme and overall appearance of the website, but for now, this is all I can manage.
Fourthly
Now that exams are finished, I am going to get back into photo editing. I have five different blog posts sitting in various states of completion and waiting to get put up. Bear with me, and theyshould be appearing over the next few weeks.
I believe that is all for now. Depending on how efficient I am, there may be another post following later today. Until then, keep clicking!
